Arizona State Tax Return Information

Who Must File

Arizona residents over the age of 18 who have met minimum income guidelines for their filing status must file an Arizona state tax return. Persons who did not reside in the state during the entire 12 month period are eligible to file as a part-year resident.

Due Date

Arizona state tax returns are due on April 15 for the previous tax year. In the event that this day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the due date will automatically be extended to the next business day. Extensions must be filed with the Arizona Department of Revenue prior to this deadline.

Processing Time

Arizona residents who file electronically will usually have their returns processed faster than those who file paper copies. Those filing early in the tax season will also likely receive any refunds due in a shorter amount of time than those who file late in the season. Taxpayers should allow at least eight weeks for the processing of refunds.
