How Can I Direct Questions to the IRS?

Visit the IRS's website (see Resources). Find the box that titled "Information About." Click on the "Frequently Asked Questions" link.

Locate the section to the right of your screen titled "IRS Resources." Click on the link to "Contact My Local Office."

Click on the link for "phone" under the first heading to view the telephone numbers for the IRS. Call the number that best matches your status---whether you are an individual or a business, for example, or are hearing-impaired.

Locate an office close to you by clicking on the link to "Locate a Taxpayer Assistance Center" half-way down the screen. Enter your ZIP code, choose the mile radius from the drop-down menu and click "Search."

View the list provided for local tax advisers. Call the local office to ask a question or make an appointment.
