Contact your local IRS office for copies of prior-year tax forms or download them online. See Resources for a link to look up your local tax office and to download prior-year tax forms.
Fill out the return with all the information the form asks for. This includes income from the prior year. When in doubt, follow the instructions on the form as they differ from year to year. Use the address you lived at during the year of the return. Look at the address on your W-2 if you're unsure.
Send in the tax form to the address listed on the tax form. If you have a tax liability (i.e., you owe the IRS money), include a check along with your form (do not include cash). If you do not have the money, submit the return without the check. Provide the IRS with a plan to pay back the amount due.
