How to Pay Estimated Taxes Online

Visit EFTPS.gov and enroll in the EFTPS system. You will need to provide your name, address, taxpayer identification number or Social Security number and the account and routing numbers for your bank account.

Watch your mail for an EFTPS Confirmation Package. This will provide you with detailed information on how to obtain the Internet password for your account. You will also receive your personal identifcation number in the mail. You should allow two to three weeks for this information to arrive.

Log in to your EFTPS account with your Internet password and PIN.

Select the "Make a Payment" option from your EFTPS homepage.

Enter the payment information for the tax period or periods for which you wish to schedule payment. You must know the amount you will be scheduling as well as the tax period and settlement date.

6.

Take note of your EFT Acknowledgment Number after you have submitted your payment. You should keep this number for your records every time you make a payment. Print a copy of the Payment Confirmation for your records as well.

Tips and Warnings

  • If you schedule future payments for your estimated taxes, carefully note the amount and date of payment so you will be prepared for this sum of money to come out of your bank account at the scheduled time.
